Day 7- Double Zero All The Way
It is indeed a small world.
The other day another hiker told me that Sith, a hiker Nick and I know from PCT 2016, was behind us on the trail. Today I got a message from her - she just arrived to town.
She was one of the women at the southern terminus with us!
I thought she looked familiar and she said she thought likewise, but neither of us thought it was even remotely possible that we’d know anyone on the trail so we didn’t say anything. And we didn’t formally introduce ourselves, either, because we were busy with last-minute pictures and such. She figured it out when she saw my trail name in the registers. I cannot believe it. Sith was hiking with her brother, Jedi, back in 2016; they even gave us trail magic when we got to Oregon.

Crazy, just crazy I say.
Today was chill. We had breakfast at Kranberry’s (again), we assessed my feet, and, when I decided I was going stir crazy, we decided to walk 2 miles to visit a local museum and to eat at a Mexican restaurant. Besides, I needed to test out my blister situation. I’m happy to report it’s tolerable.
The museum was in an old National Guard Armory and it was full of interesting/odd things. For example, one room was an exhibit on the Japanese internment camps and the POW camps in the area while another room was full of someone’s extensive collection of Avon bottles.
After our museum visit, we walked to Ramona’s Cafe - their food was truly delicious (I’d be saying that even if I wasn’t hiking).
On the walk back to the hotel we stopped at McDonalds - Nick wanted to get another McFlurry. He’s trying to eat 10,000 calories a day when we are in town to make up for the calories he’s not getting on the trail. It is astonishing how much food he’s shoving into his face. While there, we used the much better Wifi to chat with our nephew Ben and wish him a happy birthday.
And finally, I read my first Happy Trails letter!!! Ami, i love you!
