Day 79- Recovery in Grand Lake, Day 3 by Beth Whittington

We decided to test my progress by walking into town for breakfast.

It did not go as well as I hoped.

I made it to the Sagebrush restaurant, but I had to really take my time and I had to stop a lot.  Walking on flat terrain isn’t terrible, but downhill and uphill is a bitch - we definitely won’t be hiking tomorrow.

Based off of today’s test, we started to look at our spreadsheet for the rest of the trail to determine exactly how long we can be off-trail before we have to start looking at alternative options for finishing.  I hate talking about it but we want to be prepared.

While I miss the trail like crazy, I must admit that it’s wonderful being able to spend so much time with Candice.  :)

Nick did some work on the mushroom farm (I joked he was earning our keep here) while I spent more time on the floor, both stretching and with my legs up the wall.  I feel terribly lazy but will do anything I can to get back to the trail.

Special K sent me some very encouraging texts and he reminded me in his no-nonsense way to stop feeling sorry for myself (which I have been, a little).

The good news is I’m definitely feeling better because I didn’t have any issues walking around town after dinner.  Sure, that was on flat terrain, but still - progress is progress.
