Below is a rough idea of what we started the PCT with (minus food and water).  As it was our first thru-hike, we had a lot to learn. Check out our updated gear list here.  

Beth's PCT Gear:

Sleep system: hat, gloves, comfy socks, shirt, pants, sleeping mat, sleeping bag

Post hike update: Only kept the PCT bandana, the sunglasses, and the buff.

Post hike update: Kept it all. Loved the long handled titanium spoon, probably my favorite thing

The Backpack, hiking poles, umbrella (sun and rain protection)

Post hike update: Kept it all. LOVED the Ariel and used the umbrella a LOT in the desert and the rainy parts of Washington.

Post hike update: Got rid of the pants, extra bra, and underwear. (Discovered hiking in the shorts with a liner was perfect and all I needed.)

Personal Care: tooth care (not bringing the entire bag of floss sticks), wipes (various uses, mainly to clean up with), mini first aid kit, lip balm, body glide (minimize chafing), trowel (dig holes for #2), toilet paper

Post hike update: sent back the body glide (didn’t need), put the first aid kit in a lighter container

ID/Electronics: permit, ID, credit card, backup battery, charging cables to various items, extra batteries   (not pictured: cell phone)
