2015

  • July 24:  Paid off the house mortgage - no more debt! (Thus making our idle talk of doing something "unconventional" even possible.)

  • August 1: Nick starts to tear down and sell his beloved reef tanks (which is what made Beth realize he was serious about wanting to quit his job and thru-hike the PCT).

  • November 5: Nick tells his boss of his plans and quits his job as an Ecologist for the Office of Surface Mining (solidifying the fact that he was serious).  Beth still isn't 100% sure what she wants to do.

  • December 7: Beth officially resigns as a Development and Implementation Specialist from the American Red Cross National Testing Laboratory / Nick officially resigns from his position (i.e. copies Beth's letter of resignation and modifies it for his own use)

  • December 23: Nick's last day at the Office of Surface Mining
