Day 67 - Hiking with Ellie/False Alarm by Beth Whittington

Start: 0700 - Lee Vining (Mona Vista RV Park)
End:  1830 -  next to Wilson Creek
Miles (today): 22
Miles (cumulative): 1021.5 (876.5 PCT, 91.5 alternate, 53.5 off)

Sleeping on grass is so soft and luscious!  I slept decently (despite going to bed late) and when I woke up at 0500 I decided to stay up. Nick and I got things organized and packed up; By 0615 Ellie woke everyone else up so we could all go to breakfast before going back to the trail.

We decided to go back to the Mobile for breakfast since we had such a good experience last night.  The food was good - I had a huge omelet with toast and potatoes and it was almost too much for me (I ate so much food yesterday!); however, I ate every last bit as I'm sure I can use the fuel. I also enjoyed the company.  :)

Natasha gave us a ride back to the trail - her car was stuffed with 4 hikers and 3 huge backpacks (William's backpack was in Liz's car) and it could barely make it back up the mountain!

Ellie and I decided to hike together again today - we seem to have similar hiking styles.  We started hiking at 0945 and stopped 22 miles later at 1830 (when Nick told us to stop to wait for him).  It felt as if we flew - imagine what we could have accomplished if we had started hiking at 0700!!  Nick showed up 2 hours later (I was a little worried and felt so bad that he had to hike so late!)

It was a fun day - Ellie is so fun to hike with.  Neither of us really identify as hikers and it's refreshing to know I'm not the only one out here doing this more for the challenge than for the love of hiking.
