Did you know the Olympics are going on?  LOL :)  I love the Olympics!  Being in a town is great because I actually get to watch a few Olympic events.  Right now I'm watching women's beach volleyball and next I get to watch swimming - so exciting!  I'm bummed that I'm going to miss the marathon, though - that's on the 14th and we'll be back on the trail.  It's ok, I'm sure I'll be able to watch it after the fact (although it won't be quite as exciting).  I'm just happy I get to watch at least a little of the Olympics.

Time is such a weird concept.  While on the trail I often have no idea what day it is - the days all just blur together.  It also baffles me how, now that I'm in a town, the 6 miles we hiked this morning feels like days ago.  So weird.

It was an easy, chilly hike this morning.  By 0930 we made it to the road where Jedi and Gopher were waiting for us.  :) :) :)

Jedi drove is to the Roadway Inn, where our resupply package was and where we ended up getting a room.  Happily, there was a room ready for us so Nick and I quickly showered and then the four of us went to the Caldera brewery for lunch.

Caldera was a perfect place to eat, drink, and relax with friends!  The food and beer was top-notch and being able to spend quality time with Jedi and Gopher made me oh-so-happy!  I am SO GLAD they helped welcome us to Oregon!

inside Caldera - those shelves of bottles lined all four walls, it was spectacular

1- this slice of pizza was my appetizer

2- my beautiful salmon plate

3- Nick designed his own pizza - cashew arugula pesto, cojita cheese, ahi tuna, fresh basil.  It was surprisingly delicious!

4- my chocolate coconut porter - so so so tasty

After several hours at Caldera, Jedi drove us to the grocery store (we bought a few supplemental trail snacks, some chicken for dinner, and some ice cream for dessert) and then back to the hotel.  At the store, Jedi purchased a strawberry rhubarb pie and vanilla ice cream, which the four of us shared in our hotel room.  Holy crap, that pie was FABULOUS, especially for a grocery store pie!  :)

Jedi and Gopher decided to get a room here, too.  In fact, there are A LOT of hikers here.  I took a much needed nap after Jedi and Gopher left, but when I finally emerged from our room I saw Cool Beans and Twinky (haven't seen them since Casa de Luna), T Rex (haven't seen him since the Casa de Luna timeframe), Bushwhack et al., Wing It (Sierra City), Rem, and Shortcut (Lee Vining).  I really wanted to hang out and visit with everyone, which I did for a little while, but I kept myself in check and went back to the room to get more rest (my body needs as much rest as it can get).

Right then.  Back to the Olympics!!!!
