Were we really just in town this morning?

It's so strange how long ago that feels now.  This morning I woke up in a comfortable bed and ate a decent hotel continental breakfast and reconnected with several people (having cell service is so nice)....and now I'm back in the tent, getting ready to sleep on the ground.  It's as if my time in civilization was a dream.  Yet, when this is all over, I know my time on the trail will seem like the dream... (Let's not worry about that right now, it makes me sad.)

Jedi and Gopher took us back to the trail this morning; by 0930 Nick and I were hiking our little hearts out.  We bumped into quite a few people we haven't seen in a while - it seems that a lot of hikers spent quite a bit of time in Ashland.   At the end of the day, as I was getting water, I bumped into Flash, Sing Song, Goldie, and Rat and Ant!  Rat and Ant!  I haven't seen them since Walker Pass!  I spent a long time at the water, catching up with all of them and cleaning off my dirty feet in the warm water, before heading back to our campsite to commence with the nightly chores.

Tonight is the peak of the Perseid meteor shower but we are surrounded by trees and we are still too close to Ashland to escape the light.  Ahh, if only we were at Walker Pass with Jeff!

Ant, Rat, and me - those sisters always make me smile!
